Konnichiwa!
Congratulations to Singapore for her first UNESCO World Heritage inscription on the Singapore Botanical Gardens!
As I travel often, the first place I would think of visiting would be the gardens of that particular country. The way I see it, gardens have infinite space, which gives me room to appreciate nature in her glory.
It has been a year since I have moved to Singapore and my favourite place of all is none other than the Singapore Botanical Gardens. A while back on one of my regular walking routines there, I found a panel of the UNESCO World Heritage nomination. Immediately, an idea blossomed to celebrate such a great milestone for this Garden City.
Here at JCC, in conjunction with the celebration, we are holding a photography exhibition of our own World Heritage sites in Japan, in which we've also added our newly inscribed “Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution Sites”today. Please feel free to drop by our centre and do not miss this chance to view the universal treasures both Japan and Singapore have to offer. (The exhibition will end on Thursday, 9th July 2015.)
In addition, the month of July hosts the ever exciting Japan Film Festival held at our home theatre, the Gallery Theatre located within the National Museum of Singapore. This year, we feature Japan’s leading exponent of ‘Jidai Geki’ in various subgenre. We will kick off this festival with ‘Zatoichi meets Yojinbo’ and I anticipate the many full house screenings ahead. Thus, during this hot season in Singapore, watch some Japanese classics and new feature films indoors to cool off, and to balance that, spend time outdoors and immerse yourself in the wonders of the Singapore Botanical Gardens!
See you soon!
